Indonesia's economy grew by 4.95% in the third quarter of 2024, as announced by Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati. While this growth figure is positive, it represents a slowdown compared to the previous quarter. Minister Sri Mulyani noted that household consumption expanded by 4.91%, slightly lower than the growth recorded in Q2 2024. However, there was a significant improvement in investment, which grew by 5.15%. Together, household consumption and investment contributed over 80% to the country’s GDP, highlighting their central role in driving economic performance.
On the production side, the manufacturing sector showed a solid growth of 4.72%, surpassing the previous quarter’s growth. However, the agricultural sector experienced a more modest growth of 1.69%. Minister Sri Mulyani also cautioned about the rising pace of imports, which grew by 11.47%, urging the need to manage the trade balance carefully. Despite the slower growth, she remains optimistic about Indonesia’s economic outlook, especially with the expectation that the agricultural sector will perform better in Q4, driven by the harvest season. The government aims to maintain stability and foster further growth in the coming months.
