Nine countries attended the investment forum organized by Bank Indonesia (BI) East Kalimantan in Samarinda, aiming to bolster the economy and attract investment to the region. The event, titled “Kaltim: Paradise of The East” and “Mahakam Investment Forum (MIF) 2024,” ran from November 8-10, 2024, gathering ambassadors and representatives from Bahrain, Morocco, Cambodia, Turkey, as well as investors from the UK, India, Japan, the Netherlands, and Switzerland. BI Kaltim Head Budi Widihartanto expressed that the international forum seeks to enhance economic synergy and create investment opportunities in East Kalimantan, fostering sustainable and inclusive regional growth.
Budi highlighted the forum’s potential to strengthen bilateral relations and open avenues for mutually beneficial economic cooperation. Through “Kaltim: Paradise of The East,” BI Kaltim promoted innovative solutions to elevate the competitiveness of MSMEs in the region, while the MIF 2024 emphasized environmentally sustainable investments. Budi also announced the launch of strategic programs, including the Batik IKN Book and Kaltim’s Wastra MSMEs, the intellectual property handover for Batik IKN to 13 local artisans, and the signing of a Letter of Intent with Morocco. Additionally, BI Kaltim unveiled the Truster Virtual Space to boost investment, tourism, and trade promotions. The forum also facilitated agricultural and MSME assistance to support food self-sufficiency and local tourism, and granted organic rice and export certifications to local entrepreneurs, or “Kaltimpreneurs.”
