Tangerang City has continued to experience a significant surge in its export transaction value, reflecting strong economic growth and increasing global demand for its key commodities. In 2024, the total value of exports from Tangerang reached an impressive 5.57 billion USD, marking a notable increase compared to previous years. This remarkable growth is largely attributed to the city’s strategic focus on exporting a diverse range of high-demand products. Key commodities include textiles, chemicals, plastics, as well as electrical and telecommunications equipment, and computers. These sectors have seen strong export performance, driven by the demand from neighboring countries such as South Korea, Thailand, Australia, Malaysia, and Vietnam, among others.
According to Suli Rosadi, the Head of the Industry, Trade, Cooperatives, and Small and Medium Enterprises (Disperindagkop UKM) Office of Tangerang City, the success of these export commodities has played a crucial role in stimulating economic growth in the city. The growth in export values is seen as a direct reflection of Tangerang's efforts to enhance its position in the global market. In addition to larger industries, the city has also seen remarkable achievements from its Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). Local SMEs have successfully expanded their reach on the international stage, with many participating in global exhibitions and trade shows. One notable example is the facilitation of local SMEs’ participation in the 2024 World Expo in Mumbai, where businesses such as Ratu Eceng, Roka Collection, Valerie Crochet, and Snazzy Boom had the opportunity to showcase their products to an international audience. This international exposure has not only helped raise the profile of Tangerang's SMEs but has also contributed to the overall increase in export transactions.
