Strong Consumption and Export Performance Drive DKI Jakarta's Economy to 4.93% Growth in Q3 2024

The economy of DKI Jakarta, Indonesia’s capital, showed strong growth in the third quarter of 2024, driven primarily by robust consumption and a solid export performance. According to recent data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the city’s economy expanded by 4.93% compared to the same period last year. This growth reflects the positive momentum in both household consumption and the export sector, which are two key drivers of Jakarta’s economic performance. The increase in consumption, which is linked to higher public spending and improved consumer confidence, contributed significantly to this growth. Meanwhile, the strong export performance was fueled by rising demand for Jakarta’s key commodities in global markets.

The BPS report highlights that household consumption in DKI Jakarta remains a critical engine for economic growth. As the nation’s economic and business hub, Jakarta benefits from higher disposable incomes and a more active consumer market. The city’s consumer spending, particularly in retail, services, and transportation, has remained resilient, contributing to a steady growth rate for the economy. Exports also played a crucial role in Jakarta’s economic growth in Q3 2024. Despite global economic challenges, the city’s export sector showed resilience, supported by demand for various commodities. Jakarta, as the economic center of Indonesia, remains a key contributor to the country’s export volume, particularly in sectors such as manufacturing, electronics, and natural resources.
