Minister of Agriculture Targets 4.81% Agricultural Sector GDP Growth by 2029

Indonesia's Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo, has set an ambitious goal for the agricultural sector, aiming for it to contribute 4.81% to the country's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by 2029. This target is part of the government’s broader efforts to modernize Indonesia's agricultural sector, boost productivity, and improve the overall welfare of farmers. In a recent public address, Syahrul outlined the key strategies that the Ministry of Agriculture intends to implement in order to achieve this goal. The minister highlighted that the agricultural sector must evolve through innovation, enhanced productivity, and better access to technology.

To boost productivity and competitiveness, Syahrul emphasized the need for modern agricultural practices. This includes the adoption of new technologies, such as precision farming tools, drones, and automated machinery, that can help farmers optimize crop yields and reduce costs. The government plans to invest in research and development to foster innovations in agricultural techniques and improve the resilience of crops to climate change. Additionally, the Ministry will encourage the use of digital platforms to enhance farming practices. By integrating technology, the government hopes to make farming more efficient, sustainable, and profitable. A key element of this modernization push is also the focus on sustainable practices, with the government committed to promoting environmentally friendly farming methods that reduce environmental impact while maintaining high levels of productivity.
