Ministry of Industry Intensifies Industrial Emission Audits

The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) is promoting the transformation of green industries through the Continuous Emission Monitoring System (CEMS), a carbon monitoring audit system. According to Andi Rizaldi, Head of the Industrial Standardization and Services Agency (BSKJI) at Kemenperin, the CEMS audit aims to enhance service competencies to meet industry needs in compliance with Ministry of Environment and Forestry Regulation No. 13 of 2021. This initiative supports President Prabowo's vision of developing environmentally oriented industries, with the goal of achieving Net Zero Emissions in the industrial sector through a Memorandum of Understanding between BSKJI and the Directorate General of Pollution and Environmental Damage Control.

Sidik Herman, Head of the Industrial Pollution Prevention Standards and Services Center (BBSPJPPI) in Semarang, stated that the audit system is applied to 10 mandatory industrial sectors, including iron and steel smelting, pulp and paper, and oil and gas. The emission monitoring by Kemenperin adheres to the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) Performance Specification 11 (PS-11) for continuous particulate emission monitoring at stationary sources. He emphasized that this monitoring will improve emission control quality and contribute to environmental preservation, requiring active cooperation from various parties.
