Indonesian Petai Enters Japanese Export Market, More Food Commodities Targeted

The Ministry of Forestry officially dispatched 500 kg of Indonesian petai (stink beans) to Japan on Tuesday, October 29, marking a collaborative initiative between the community, government, and private sector to boost welfare through the Social Forestry Program. The Indonesian Market Traders Association (DPP IKAPPI) praised the Ministry’s efforts. "We urge the Ministry of Forestry to continue increasing national revenue and strengthening food security," said Reynaldi, Secretary General of DPP IKAPPI. Reynaldi emphasized the importance of promoting Indonesian food products, including petai and jengkol, on the international stage. This export milestone aligns with President Prabowo Subianto’s vision for national food self-sufficiency within the next 4-5 years, and IKAPPI views this as a significant step towards realizing this strategic goal.
