The Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas) announced that 12 upstream oil and gas projects were onstream by Q3 2024, accounting for 80% of the targeted 15 projects this year. Hudi D. Suryodipuro, Head of SKK Migas' Program and Communication Division, noted that these projects have added or maintained production of approximately 36,237 barrels of oil per day (BOPD), 300 million cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas, and 192 metric tons per day (MTD) of LPG. Among the key projects are OPL Main PHE ONWJ, producing 1,893 BOPD, and ExxonMobil Cepu Ltd.'s Banyu Urip Infill Clastic, producing 33,000 BOPD. Gas projects include Pertamina Hulu Mahakam's Bekapai Artificial Lift, with a capacity of 36 MMSCFD.
Two mixed projects, Akatara Gas Plant by Jadestone Energy and West Belut by Medco Natuna, contribute 25 MMSCFD of gas and 1,100 BOPD of oil. The total investment in these projects reached USD 277.4 million or around IDR 4.36 trillion. SKK Migas is coordinating with contractors to complete the remaining three projects by year-end, with an estimated production capacity of 10,600 BOPD of oil and 51 MMSCFD of gas. Hudi emphasized SKK Migas' commitment to expediting these projects to maintain and potentially increase oil production, aligning with government directives on energy security.
