The Fishery Product Quality Control and Assurance Agency (BPPMHKP) of Indonesia’s Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, in collaboration with the Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB) Provincial Government, has exported 217 tons of frozen tuna and lobster. These exports, valued at IDR 26 billion, are bound for the United States and Taiwan markets. Ishartini, head of BPPMHKP, highlighted that the tuna, directly sourced from NTB waters by small-boat fishermen, and the lobsters, cultivated in East Lombok’s Ekas and Elong Bays, meet Grade A standards, allowing them to penetrate demanding export markets.
In addition, NTB’s success in meeting international quality benchmarks proves that local fishery resources are globally competitive. Ishartini expressed hopes for continued export growth, emphasizing the region's substantial marine potential and the positive impact on fishermen and local fishery workers. NTB’s Head of Industry, Nuryanti, commended the two exporting companies—PT High Point Fisheries and PT Blue Ocean Lobster—for meeting strict standards in the U.S. and Taiwan. NTB’s daily production of frozen tuna and lobster, which reaches up to 20 tons, promises further opportunities for expanding export reach and supporting local economic development.
