The Indonesian government aims to boost domestic vaname shrimp exports to the Egyptian market. Indonesia's Ambassador to Egypt, Lutfi Rauf, noted that vaname shrimp is popular among Egyptian consumers. "Egyptian consumers highly appreciate Indonesian seafood, including vaname shrimp, which proves the high quality and competitiveness of our product. This momentum should be leveraged to increase export volumes to Egypt," Lutfi said in a press release from the Ministry of Trade on Wednesday, October 23, 2024.
One effort to enhance these exports includes a visit to the vaname shrimp farms of PT Esaputlii Prakarsa Utama (EPU) in Parigi Moutong, Central Sulawesi, on October 16, 2024. Lutfi emphasized that this visit represents government support for PT EPU, which is capable of meeting national market demands. Additionally, PT EPU is expected to meet Middle Eastern market demands, particularly in Egypt. The Trade Attaché in Cairo, M Syahran Bhakti S, highlighted that the current digitalization of shrimp operational data will ensure business sustainability for PT EPU and attract potential buyers from Egypt and neighboring countries.
