The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) has expressed its full commitment to supporting the Prabowo-Gibran administration's target of 7-8% economic growth over the next five years by advancing downstream industrial development. "We will accelerate efforts, following the President’s directive, particularly in the manufacturing sector. Each industry's growth must directly correlate with public welfare," said Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita during a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Industry on Tuesday, October 22, 2024. He emphasized that investment should be strategically directed for the broad benefit of society.
Agus further highlighted that Kemenperin will adhere to the National Industrial Development Master Plan (RIPIN) for 2024-2025, which outlines the development of 10 priority industries. He remains optimistic about the manufacturing sector's continued significant contribution to the national economy. "We will solidify the existing industrial roadmap over the next two or three years," Agus added. He also stressed the importance of downstreaming all commodities that can generate added value and create jobs, requiring synergy between Kemenperin and various stakeholders through policy development, supply chain strengthening, workforce training, financing facilitation, and research and technology development.
