The West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Provincial Tourism Office (Dispar) reports that sports tourism activities at the Mandalika Special Economic Zone (SEZ) are key contributors to the region’s 2024 tourism target. According to Jamaludin Malady, Head of NTB Dispar, events such as MotoGP, Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC), Mandalika Racing Series (MRS), and other motor racing events have drawn significant numbers of tourists. "With each event at Mandalika Circuit, tourist visits rise, bringing more visitors to NTB," Malady stated. Current data show that NTB's tourism growth is largely driven by natural attractions, cultural tourism, and sports tourism.
In 2024, NTB is targeting 2.5 million tourist visits, with over 2 million already recorded by September. In 2023, the target of 2 million tourists was successfully met. With strong flight connectivity and several high-profile events scheduled for the remainder of 2024, including music festivals and events organized by the Ministry of Industry, NTB is optimistic about reaching its goal. Key tourism destinations in NTB include Mandalika SEZ, Gili Islands, Mount Rinjani, Pink Beach, and Sumbawa’s Moyo Island.
