Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated Rosan Roeslani as Minister of Investment and Downstreaming and Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) on October 21, 2024. Rosan, a seasoned businessman and diplomat, previously held this role under President Jokowi's administration and was Indonesia’s Ambassador to the U.S. in 2021. His extensive background in finance, business, and government, including his leadership at the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN), equips him well for this significant role.
Roeslani's main task is to meet Indonesia's investment target for 2024, which is set at IDR 1,650 trillion. By September 2024, the country had achieved IDR 1,261.43 trillion, or 76.45% of the target. In addition to domestic investment goals, Rosan is expected to attract foreign direct investment (FDI) to the Nusantara capital city (IKN), which requires up to IDR 2.77 quadrillion in funding. He also faces the challenge of advancing Indonesia's downstream industry and ensuring the country remains competitive in the global market by formulating policies that boost foreign investment and support export-oriented industries.
