Acting Director General of Oil and Gas at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Dadan Kusdiana, announced that the government is actively promoting investments in the upstream oil and gas sector through various collaboration contracts. Speaking at the Indonesia Exploration Forum in Surabaya, East Java, he highlighted the recent Production Sharing Contracts (PSC) signed for two working areas in Sumatra and Sulawesi with a cost recovery scheme.
The Amanah working area, spanning 1,753.15 square kilometers in Sumatra, will be operated by PT Medco Energi Amanah, with a committed investment of USD 3.15 million for geological and geophysical studies, including 50 square kilometers of 3D seismic surveys. The Melati working area, covering 8,453.70 square kilometers in Southeast and Central Sulawesi, will be managed by PT Pertamina Hulu Energi Sulawesi Melati, with a total committed investment of USD 12.7 million for similar studies and seismic surveys over the next three years. The government is preparing over 60 new oil and gas blocks for the next five years, aiming to bolster exploration efforts and secure sustainable energy reserves.
