The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries continues to enhance Indonesia's seafood market access globally, marked by the export of 16 containers of seafood commodities valued at USD 831.02 thousand or IDR 12.5 billion to various countries. The exported commodities include frozen yellowfin tuna, skipjack, squid, milkfish, barramundi, and snapper. This shipment is the first of a total of 30 containers worth USD 1.315 million or IDR 19.79 billion, destined for China, the United States, Australia, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Jordan. Minister Trenggono emphasized that despite challenges such as economic slowdowns in key markets like the U.S., Japan, and the EU, Indonesia’s seafood remains highly sought after internationally.
Minister Trenggono highlighted the government’s efforts to diversify export markets and support businessesby providing quality raw materials through Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), supply chain quality assurance systems, and reliable logistics. He noted that Indonesia's seafood exports to China between January and August 2024 reached USD 753.07 million, a 9.6% increase from the same period last year. Meanwhile, exports to Vietnam, Australia, and Jordan grew by 47%, 7.6%, and 3.7%, respectively. According to the Central Bureau of Statistics, Indonesia’s total seafood exports for the January-August period reached USD 3.73 billion with a volume of 896 thousand tons, highlighting shrimp, tuna, and squid as top export commodities.
