Director General of Domestic Trade at the Ministry of Trade, Moga Simatupang, highlighted the significant impact of the fashion industry, contributing over 18% to Indonesia's creative economy GDP, totaling IDR 220 trillion in 2022. He shared this during the 8th Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week (JMFW) 2025, emphasizing that the industry not only supports millions of jobs but also promises growth with the rise of digital technology. Moga is optimistic about the modest fashion industry's future, seeing it as a key player in job creation, increasing state revenue, and strengthening Indonesia's global market position.
Moga stressed the importance of leveraging digital technology and social media for expanding market reach. He noted the industry's shift towards sustainable and ethically produced products, with e-commerce and social media providing new opportunities for modest fashion entrepreneurs. Digital platforms enable designers to reach global consumers more efficiently, supporting a more inclusive and adaptive business transformation aligned with evolving global consumer lifestyles.
