Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati emphasized that infrastructure development and human resource advancement are foundational to Indonesia's economic resilience. Speaking at the BNI Investor Daily Summit 2024, themed “Accelerating Resilient Growth” at the Jakarta Convention Center on October 8, 2024, she highlighted that Indonesia has successfully navigated extraordinary shocks over the past decade, including the Covid-19 pandemic and rising geopolitical tensions, due to the consistent role of the state budget (APBN) in safeguarding the populace and the economy. Sri Mulyani explained that achieving resilience against various shocks requires a robust foundation, notably through infrastructure development. The infrastructure budget in the APBN has steadily increased since 2014, resulting in significant achievements in transportation, education, housing, sanitation, irrigation, and digital infrastructure.

Additionally, she stressed the importance of human resource development through education and social protection to achieve high growth and escape the middle-income trap. “Education and social protection budgets have been the largest allocations in our APBN,” she noted. Indonesia's resilience is also bolstered by downstream industry development and affirmative policies in the manufacturing sector and others, strengthening the trade balance and current account as vital economic defenses. Reflecting on the past decade’s challenges, such as pandemics, geopolitical shifts, commodity price fluctuations, and global inflation spikes, Sri Mulyani asserted that Indonesia has maintained good growth and a healthy APBN. This positions the new government to start on a strong footing and focus on priority programs. She expressed her honor and privilege in helping build a smooth and credible transition for the new administration. The Finance Minister also hoped that the BNI Investor Daily Summit would foster optimism and sustain momentum for improvement.
