Indonesia’s Minister of Trade, Zulkifli Hasan, announced a significant increase in the country's export achievements during the Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI). He reported that since its launch 10 years ago, exports facilitated through TEI have reached USD 30.5 billion, equivalent to IDR 476 trillion in 2023. Speaking at the 39th TEI opening in Tangerang, Hasan noted that in 2014, under President Joko Widodo’s administration, TEI generated USD 1.42 billion. By 2023, this figure had soared to USD 30.5 billion, marking a substantial growth in Indonesia's trade performance.
The expo, which was held earlier than usual, from October 9 to 12, allowed Hasan to deliver his final speech before the end of Jokowi’s term. He attributed the success of TEI to the hard work of all stakeholders, especially the support from President Jokowi. This year, TEI focused on showcasing more innovative and specialized Indonesian products, segmented into three zones: food, beverage, and agriculture; living fashion and services. Additionally, in collaboration with the Ministry of Religious Affairs, a halal pavilion was introduced to enhance Indonesia’s competitiveness in the global market, a response to similar efforts from Thailand.
