The partnership between Indonesia Eximbank (LPEI) and UK Export Finance (UKEF) is seen as a step towards creating new business opportunities for Indonesian exporters. This collaboration aims to foster responsible, green, and sustainable trade that has a positive impact on the economy. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed in Jakarta, highlights plans for joint projects across the globe, focusing on Africa and the Indo-Pacific regions. According to LPEI Executive Director Rijani Tirtoso, UKEF's global presence and collaboration with Indonesia Eximbank significantly boost business development and demonstrate both institutions' commitment to responsible, impactful trade. This partnership contributes to Indonesia’s stronger role in the global market. UKEF is a UK government export credit agency that provides financing and insurance to help international buyers implement projects using UK goods and services. Last year, UKEF allocated GBP 1.7 billion in new financing to support businesses, further enhancing opportunities for Indonesia.
Through this partnership, UKEF and LPEI are set to support international projects that will benefit both UK and Indonesian businesses, focusing on sectors such as clean energy, healthcare, water, education, and transportation. UK Ambassador to Indonesia, Dominic Jermey, emphasized that the MoU strengthens the longstanding diplomatic ties between the UK and Indonesia, which have lasted for over 75 years. UKEF CEO Tim Reid also pointed out that UKEF has over GBP 3 billion available to support Indonesian businesses in financing projects that incorporate UK goods and services. Indonesia remains a priority market for UKEF, which appointed its first foreign representative in Indonesia in 2017. This partnership marks a new chapter in UK-Indonesia economic relations, offering substantial opportunities for businesses in both nations, especially in sustainable sectors.
