The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs held the 2024 Indonesia-Europe Business Forum (IEBF), marking its third edition. The event, themed "Promoting Indonesia-Europe Business Collaboration Towards A More Sustainable and Equitable Economic Development", featured key activities including Business Pitching, Business Matching, and a Mini Showcase. IEBF gathered business players from both regions to showcase Indonesia's latest products, technology, and innovations. It also presented Indonesian entrepreneurs' projects and innovations to potential investors. Indonesia's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Pahala Mansury, stated that IEBF serves as a platform where European countries use Indonesia as a gateway to ASEAN markets. He emphasized Indonesia's strategic importance for European nations seeking access to the broader Asian market, while Europe remains a crucial partner for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), advanced technology, and capital.
Throughout the event, 7 Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) or Letters of Intent were signed between Indonesian and European companies. IEBF 2024 and its lead-up events generated transactions worth USD 11.07 billion. Six companies participated in business pitching, and 11 institutions showcased their products and services. The forum saw participation from 122 European companies and 123 Indonesian firms in business matching and other activities. IEBF 2024 is an important platform to foster business partnerships between Indonesia and Europe, aiming to boost trade and investment, explore new business opportunities, especially in non-traditional markets, and expand cooperation networks. Shinta Kamdani, Chairman of the Indonesian Employers' Association (APINDO), added that such forums are expected to increase investment in Indonesia, aligning with the nation’s ambition for stronger economic growth.
