The Indonesian government has officially launched the Indonesia Digital Islamic Economy Report 2023/2024 to support inclusive economic development through sharia economy and digital transformation, in alignment with the principle of sustainable development, ensuring no one is left behind. The report was unveiled by Vice President Ma’ruf Amin, highlighting the transformation of the National Committee for Islamic Economy and Finance (KNEKS) into the National Sharia Economy Development Agency. This shift was accompanied by the release of the report and dashboard in collaboration with Dinar Standard and Indonesia Halal Lifestyle Center.
During the 2024 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Annual Conference held at the Fairmont Hotel in Jakarta, Minister of National Development Planning Suharso Monoarfa emphasized the role of a growing digital ecosystem in driving Indonesia’s Islamic digital economy, currently valued at USD 40.57 billion and projected to reach USD 76.09 billion by 2029. This growth is fueled by increased halal awareness through digital media, the adoption of new technologies such as artificial intelligence, and the contribution of unicorn companies like Tokopedia, Blibli, and Traveloka. The report also notes the rise of new digital consumers in lower-tier cities, reflecting the expanding reach of Indonesia's digital Islamic economy. The dashboard for the report can be accessed at https://idie.bappenas.go.id, offering stakeholders, including government agencies, investors, and industries, an overview of opportunities and a roadmap to maximize the sector's potential.
