PT KCC Glass Indonesia (KCC Glass), located in the Batang Integrated Industrial Zone (KITB), Central Java, has invested IDR 4 trillion to establish the largest glass sheet factory in Southeast Asia. Minister of Investment and Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Rosan Roeslani, stated that KCC Glass has made a substantial investment and plans to increase its contribution in the future. The current investment by KCC Glass amounts to IDR 4 trillion, with plans to boost it up to IDR 8 trillion. Production is set to commence in November 2024, marking a significant step for Indonesia's glass industry.
KCC Glass Chairman, Chung Mong Ik, shared that 80% of the 438,000 tons of glass sheets produced annually will be exported to Asia, Oceania, the Middle East, and Europe. The raw materials, including silica sand from Belitung and limestone from Bandung, are primarily sourced locally. With a factory area of 460,000 square meters, KCC Glass is poised to significantly contribute to Indonesia’s economy. Chung also highlighted that the factory will strengthen Indonesia's role in the global glass supply chain, as most of the products will be labeled 'Made in Indonesia.'
