Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita stated that the implementation of "Making Indonesia 4.0" is a key strategy for making Indonesia one of the top 10 largest economies in the world by 2030. At the 2024 Industry Technology Innovation Awards and Indi 4.0 Awards in Jakarta, he explained that the success of the manufacturing sector is driven by this strategy. Industries participating in Champion Indi 4.0 reported a 4-40% reduction in energy consumption, a 5-22% increase in productivity, and a 3-78% reduction in production costs.
Additionally, Agus mentioned that advancements in the innovation ecosystem have improved Indonesia's ranking in the Global Innovation Index, from 87th in 2021 to 54th in 2024. The International Institute for Management Development (IMD) also noted an increase in Indonesia's competitiveness, placing it 27th out of 67 countries in the 2024 World Competitiveness Ranking. The manufacturing sector remains a major driver of the national economy, contributing 16.70% to the national GDP in the second quarter of 2024 and attracting investments amounting to IDR 169.18 trillion.
