The Provincial Government of South Sulawesi (Pemprov Sulsel) is committed to collaborating with relevant stakeholders to support the development of the sharia economy and finance. Emphasizing values such as justice, transparency, and public benefit, the sharia economy is seen as a solution to various economic issues. Representing the Acting Governor Prof. Zudan Arif Fakrulloh, Secretary of South Sulawesi, Jufri Rahman, highlighted this commitment during the Opening Ceremony of the Sharia Economy and Finance Month held at Hotel Claro Makassar on October 1, 2024.
Jufri Rahman stated that transforming South Sulawesi into a hub for sharia economy and finance is feasible, especially as a market for halal products, given that 90.2% of the population is Muslim. He emphasized the provincial government's readiness to support and collaborate in the development of the sharia economy, focusing on halal product industries, sharia financial services, social sharia funds, and sharia business and entrepreneurship. He also called on local government officials to enhance sharia literacy and education, including conducting socialization and training sessions, and strengthening sharia economic infrastructure by providing certified halal slaughterhouses.
