Indonesian export products continue to make an impression on the international market, with Indonesian furniture and decor showcased at the S/ALON Budapest 2024 from 20-22 September 2024 in Budapest Sport Arena, Hungary. The event, Hungary's largest furniture and decor exhibition, helped Indonesia record potential transactions worth USD 76.98 thousand, equivalent to IDR 1.16 billion. The Indonesian Pavilion attracted interest in certified balsa wood products with Forest Law Enforcement, Governance, and Trade (FLEGT) and Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certifications. Suci Mahanani, Head of the Indonesian Trade Promotion Centre (ITPC) Budapest, expressed hope that Indonesia's participation would open more non-oil and gas export opportunities in non-traditional markets, particularly for furniture and decor products.
Additionally, Suci highlighted that the Indonesian Pavilion's presence at S/ALON Budapest 2024 offered exporters and furniture businesses greater access to the Hungarian market. During the exhibition, ITPC Budapest collaborated with three Hungarian importers and one Slovakian distributor to showcase Indonesian products. Ambassador Dimas Wahab officially opened the Indonesian Pavilion, featuring a 42-square-meter booth designed to reflect a "one-stop-solution" concept for indoor and outdoor furniture. Indonesian products displayed included teak and rattan furniture, bamboo products, and wall decor. The event also featured Single Origin Coffee–Sumatra tasting to promote Indonesian flavors, alongside coconut-based products like coconut milk and sugar. According to Indonesia’s Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Indonesia’s non-oil and gas exports to Hungary from January to July 2024 reached USD 55.8 million, a 21.79% increase from the same period in the previous year.
