The Fakfak Regency Plantation Department is prioritizing the export potential of Fakfak Nutmeg (Myristica Argantea Warb), which is increasingly sought after in the global market. Acting Head of the Fakfak Regency Plantation Department, Widhi Asmorojat, revealed that Fakfak Nutmeg received a patent in line with the revised Indonesian National Standard (SNI) as of June 2021, affirming the significant value of this commodity. "Fakfak Nutmeg has successfully entered the export market, opening vast opportunities to maximize its high value," said Widhi. The product is in demand not only for food and non-food industries but also as a sought-after spice for direct consumers.
Widhi emphasized that the nutmeg exports position the Fakfak Plantation Department strategically in maintaining fair pricing standards in the region. "The goal is to ensure fair income for local farmers," he added. Fakfak Nutmeg exports primarily target European countries such as the Netherlands and Asian markets like Vietnam and China. This demonstrates that the export of Fakfak Nutmeg is not only beneficial locally but also has a positive global impact.
