Stakeholders are encouraged to revive investments in the national digital sector, particularly for startups, by facilitating meetings between startup entrepreneurs and investors. This initiative aims to help startups survive and grow amid the global tech-winter. "I hope this meeting allows stakeholders to collaboratively explore business strategies and opportunities and promote an agile, resilient, and sustainable startup ecosystem," said Minister of Communication and Informatics (Menkominfo) Budi Arie Setiadi at the opening of the NextHub Global Summit 2024: Defrost the Tech Winter in Nusa Dua, Badung, Bali, on Monday (23/9/2024).
Budi Arie noted that Indonesia has over 2,500 digital startups, making it the country with the most startups in Southeast Asia and the sixth largest in the world. This number creates a significant potential for Indonesia to become a tech hub in Southeast Asia, provided they collaborate to overcome global challenges like the tech-winter. "During the Tech Winter, startup entrepreneurs must seriously consider sustainable business models and boost investor confidence," he stated.According to Budi Arie, the Ministry of Communication and Informatics is continuously working to strengthen Indonesia's position as a regional technology hub and to promote economic growth and innovation across Southeast Asia. One such effort is the NextHub Global Summit 2024, organized in collaboration with the Nexticorn Foundation and Hub.id to facilitate meetings between early and late-stage startups, investors, and corporate partners.
