The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) is committed to supporting local creative industry players in entering global markets, with initiatives like WIDURI Ekraf 2024. During the Networking Night event held at Movenpick Hotel Jakarta City Centre on 20 September 2024, Minister Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno emphasized the importance of intellectual property (IP) in the growing digital creative industry. He encouraged creative entrepreneurs to develop their IPs, stating, “IP creation must continue to be promoted to foster creativity. I hope the participants of WIDURI Ekraf 2024 become pioneers in elevating Indonesia’s creative economy.”
Deputy of Resources and Institutions at Kemenparekraf, Martini M. Paham, highlighted that IP protection is crucial to prevent piracy and copyright infringement. She stated, “IP can be monetized through licensing, merchandise, and other derivative products, creating significant economic value for creators.” Additionally, Director Fahmy Akmal shared that the program offers collaboration opportunities for 16 selected participants from animation, gaming, and content creation sectors to engage with stakeholders, aiming for long-term growth. This event also marks the completion of WIDURI Ekraf 2024’s stages, including workshops in seven cities, online mentoring, and business plan development.
