The Indonesian Minister of Trade, Jerry Sambuaga, held a bilateral meeting with Portugal's Minister of Economy, Pedro Reis, in Lisbon, Portugal, on Friday, September 20. The meeting covered several topics, including trade and investment performance between Indonesia and Portugal, developments in the Indonesia-EU Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) negotiations, potential collaboration between the two countries, and the European Union's environmental policies.
During the meeting, Deputy Minister Jerry highlighted that Indonesia's economic growth has been stable at around 4-5% over the past five years, with low inflation below 3%. He also mentioned a trade surplus of USD 50 billion from January to July 2023. Minister Jerry emphasized the Indonesian government's commitment to expanding trade agreements and finalizing negotiations for the CEPA with the European Union. Both countries identified opportunities in sectors such as palm oil, furniture, and health supplements for potential collaboration.
