Indonesia and China (Chongqing) have enhanced economic and trade cooperation through the China-Indonesia International Trade Corridor Cooperation and Exchange Conference held in Jakarta. This conference aims to foster closer and more stable partnerships while creating new opportunities. "The conference's goal is to share opportunities, foster openness, seek mutually beneficial cooperation, and build a brighter future together," stated the Director of PT Sokonindo Automobile, Cing Hok, in a written statement received in Jakarta on Tuesday. PT Sokonindo Automobile, the joint venture between Sokon Group (Hong Kong) Company Limited and PT Kaisar Motorindo Industri from Indonesia, is a key player in this cooperation. Located in the Modern Industrial Area of Cikande, Serang, Banten, PT Sokonindo Automobile covers 20 hectares and holds the DFSK and SERES car brands.
Additionally, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between PT Green Energi Utama (GEU) and a Hong Kong-based company to promote green mobility. GEU is committed to the carbon transition by procuring 100 electric vehicles by 2026, according to Dhimas Arif Wibowo, CEO/President Director of PT Green Energi Utama. Established in 2020, GEU is engaged in collecting and distributing used cooking oil for biodiesel production and has over 5,118 partners across Indonesia. Airlangga Hartarto, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, highlighted that the current cooperation between Indonesia and China is complementary and mutually beneficial. In 2023, trade between China and Indonesia reached USD 127.8 billion (IDR 1.94 quadrillion), while China's investment in Indonesia amounted to USD 7.43 billion (IDR 113.05 trillion), excluding investments from Hong Kong.
