Ministry of Industry Actively Expands the Market for Jewelry SMEs, Exports Exceed USD 5 Billion

The Indonesian jewellery industry has been performing exceptionally well, particularly in its ability to penetrate international markets. In 2023, the export of jewellery and precious items reached USD 5.6 billion, a 46.88% increase from USD 3.8 billion in 2022. From January to July 2024, exports totaled USD 3.67 billion, a 18.66% rise compared to the same period in 2023. This positive trend has motivated industry players to further develop their products and expand their market reach.

The Directorate General of Small and Medium Industries and Aneka (IKMA) has actively promoted easier access to new markets for small and medium-sized jewellery enterprises. This effort includes facilitating participation in the International Jewelry and Gem World (JGW) Hong Kong 2024 exhibition. The JGW aims to provide market access to Indonesian jewellery makers, particularly those in the small and medium-sized sectors, by connecting them with potential buyers from around the world. Hong Kong is seen as a significant export destination for Indonesian jewellery, given its ranking among the top five countries for Indonesian jewellery exports. The exhibition also serves as a platform for industry players to learn about global trends and expand their business networks.
