In August 2024, China was the largest importer of non-oil and gas goods for Central Java. Endang Tri Wahyuningsih, Head of the Central Java Statistics Agency (BPS), reported online on Tuesday (September 17, 2024) that non-oil and gas imports from China amounted to USD 354.21 million, accounting for 53.25% of total non-oil and gas imports. Following China, the United States and Vietnam were the next largest non-oil and gas importers, with imports from the US totaling USD 61.97 million (9.32%) and from Vietnam USD 40.96 million (6.16%). Other importing countries include Brazil, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, and Australia, each contributing less than 5% to the total non-oil and gas imports. ASEAN countries imported USD 96.98 million (14.58%) in non-oil and gas goods, while imports from the European Union reached USD 18.37 million (2.76%). From January to August 2024, China also led in non-oil and gas imports, with a total of USD 2,581.44 million. The main imported commodities from China were mechanical machines and parts (18.98%), electrical machinery and parts (16.23%), and vehicles and parts (6.88%).
