Riau Province reported a significant boost in its export value in August 2024, reaching USD 1.64 billion. This marks a 20.14% increase compared to the previous month, primarily driven by a surge in non-migas exports, which rose 24.57% to USD 1.50 billion. In contrast, migas exports declined by 13.99% to USD 134.97 million. Asep Riyadi, the Head of the Central Statistics Agency of Riau Province, attributed the overall growth to the robust performance of non-migas commodities.
A breakdown of the data reveals that seven out of the top ten non-migas commodities experienced an uptick in exports. Animal or vegetable fats and oils emerged as the most significant contributor, with a value of USD 173.51 million. Other notable performers included wood pulp, food industry waste, various chemical products, paper and cardboard, vegetable products, and man-made staple fibers. Conversely, tobacco, organic chemicals, and various processed foods witnessed a decline in exports.
