Indonesia is set to participate in the 21st annual China–ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO), held at the Nanning International Convention and Exhibition Center (NICEC) in Nanning, China. The physical exhibition will run from 24–28 September 2024, while the online platform will be available from 24 September to 31 December 2024. Director-General of National Export Development at the Ministry of Trade, Mardyana Listyowati, expressed optimism that Indonesia's involvement in CAEXPO will strengthen trade and investment ties with China. The event offers a strategic platform for ASEAN countries to promote trade and investment, and Mardyana highlighted the expected growth in Indonesia–China trade relations. This year’s five-day expo marks an extension from its traditional four-day format since its inception in 2004.
Miftah Farid, Director of Primary Product Export Development at the Ministry of Trade, noted that CAEXPO 2024 will broaden Indonesia's participation across various sectors. Indonesian small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are expected to gain opportunities to expand exports to both ASEAN and Chinese markets. The two Indonesian pavilions, namely the 2,160-square-meter Commodity Pavilion and the 160-square-meter National Pavilion (City of Charm), will showcase products such as food, fashion, and palm oil. In 2023, trade between Indonesia and China reached USD 127.81 billion, with Indonesia enjoying a surplus of USD 2.05 billion, supported by a positive trade growth trend of 19.12% over the past five years.
