China Remains Indonesia's Leading Export Destination

China continues to be Indonesia's top destination for non-oil and gas exports. According to the Indonesian Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Indonesia's non-oil and gas exports to China in August 2024 reached USD 5.33 billion, an increase from July's USD 4.83 billion. Pudji Ismartini, BPS Deputy for Distribution and Services, noted that the top three destinations for non-oil and gas exports were China, the United States, and Japan. These three countries accounted for 43.54% of Indonesia’s total non-oil and gas exports in August 2024.


In detail, non-oil and gas exports to China rose by 10.42% in August, accounting for 23.83% of total exports. Exports to the United States increased to USD 2.61 billion from USD 2.16 billion in July, representing 11.66% of total exports. Japan followed with exports valued at USD 1.80 billion, up from USD 1.78 billion, making up 8.05% of total exports. ASEAN countries saw an increase in export values to USD 4.12 billion, accounting for 18.42%, while non-oil and gas exports to the European Union reached USD 1.54 billion, or 6.90% of the total. Other export destinations amounted to USD 6.96 billion, equivalent to 31.14% of total non-oil and gas exports.
