North Maluku Provincial Government Encourages Community Economic Growth in Morotai Special Economic Zone

The North Maluku Provincial Government is steadfast in promoting inclusive and sustainable economic growth by enhancing collaboration to boost the economy and the welfare of the people, especially through the development of the Special Economic Zone (KEK) in Morotai. Asrul Gailea, Assistant III to the Governor for General Administration, highlighted during the Coffee Morning and Customs Award 2024 event in Ternate that the government's commitment to developing KEK Morotai is a strategic move to enhance regional competitiveness nationally and internationally. KEK Morotai is expected to create new jobs, increase the value of fishery products, and boost the tourism sector. To achieve this, the government emphasizes the need to strengthen infrastructure, improve services, and ensure that every development step is geared towards the community's welfare. With fiscal and non-fiscal facilities provided by the Ministry of Finance and Morotai's natural beauty, the area is seen as a potential business development hub to exploit the market in Eastern Indonesia.

Furthermore, the recent inauguration of the Semarak 01 Malut vessel in July 2024 symbolizes efforts to connect the significant potentials of the North Maluku region. This vessel is expected to enhance inter-island connectivity, facilitating smoother distribution of goods and services, strengthening economic integration across regions, and opening more opportunities for the community. During the event, Jaka Riyadi, Head of the Ternate Customs Supervision and Service Office, emphasized the importance of the Coffee Morning event as a platform for fostering synergy and collaboration between Ternate Customs and their partners. This initiative aims to build optimism and address challenges in North Maluku, with Ternate Customs successfully exceeding its revenue targets set by the central government. This accomplishment underscores the vital role of Customs in supporting the region's sustainable development. The North Maluku Provincial Government remains committed to working closely with Ternate Customs to maintain economic stability and ensure that all processes adhere to the applicable regulations.
