Indonesia has introduced 81 potential investment projects to New Zealand businesses during a working luncheon organized by the Indonesian Embassy in Wellington. The event, held in collaboration with the Indonesia Investment Promotion Centre (IIPC) Sydney and the Indonesia Trade Promotion Centre (ITPC) Sydney, highlighted opportunities for enhanced economic cooperation. Indonesian Ambassador to New Zealand, Fientje Maritje Suebu, emphasized the nations' renewed commitment to increasing bilateral trade to NZD 6 billion by 2029. She also underscored the importance of addressing trade barriers to achieve balanced and sustainable growth. The luncheon brought together key policymakers from New Zealand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Ministry for Primary Industries, and business leaders from various sectors, including Oceania Champions, Genesis Energy, and BaseUX & ChannelOctane.
Participants discussed the evolving investment landscape in Indonesia and its impact on New Zealand’s primary industries. The event served as a dynamic platform to explore commodity trends, investment opportunities, and sectoral challenges. Director of IIPC, Haryo Y Sadewo, reiterated Indonesia’s commitment to improving its business climate through key policies aimed at attracting foreign investment and promoting sustainable development. Discussions also covered how Indonesian commodities, particularly in agriculture and fisheries, can support New Zealand’s primary industries by diversifying supply chains and providing sustainable resources.
