PT Hotel Indonesia Natour, also known as InJourney Hospitality, acting as the developer and manager of the Sanur Health Special Economic Zone (SEZ), reported an investment realization of IDR 2.99 trillion as of the first half of 2024. According to Rizal Edwin, the Acting Secretary-General of the National Council for SEZs, this investment has created 2,853 jobs, from construction workers to other sectors. The Sanur SEZ has also attracted seven businesses ready to develop operations within the area. Rizal noted that the optimal investment realization over three years has made Sanur SEZ one of the best-performing SEZs. Based on rankings from LPEM UI, Sanur SEZ ranks fourth overall and second in the service SEZ category.
Rizal further explained that the SEZ management continues to enhance investment by reaching out to potential investors through forums and other channels. They are also exploring challenges and solutions related to expediting permits and ensuring smooth operations. As Indonesia's first health SEZ, Sanur SEZ is developed on 41.26 hectares of land with international-standard integrated healthcare and tourism facilities. Among its flagship facilities is the International Medical Facility, which offers top-notch brands, the best technology and medicines, and expert services for a seamless experience. Sanur International Hospital is set to open in early 2025, aiming to compete with Singapore and other advanced nations. Bank Indonesia predicts that the Sanur Health SEZ could attract two million Indonesians who usually seek treatment abroad, potentially saving IDR 9 trillion in foreign exchange. Bank Indonesia is encouraging further investment in this promising area.
