The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) has projected that investments in the tourism and creative economy (parekraf) sector, resulting from the 2024 International Tourism Investment Forum (ITIF), will reach IDR 862.8 billion. According to Nia Niscaya, Senior Expert in Tourism and Creative Economy, this projection is based on the participation of 750 attendees from 29 countries, with approximately 445 potential investors. She highlighted that the projected investment value is equivalent to USD 52.9 million. The ITIF 2024 has led to the signing of five memorandums of understanding (MoUs), including investments in the management of Taman Parapuar, a partnership between the Labuan Bajo Flores Authority and PT PLN (Persero) UIW NTT, and the development of Lake View between the Toba Lake Tourism Authority and PT Agung Toba Nauli.
Nia further stated that the ongoing collaborations from ITIF 2024 continue to show progress, with infrastructure development already visible in Labuan Bajo, including the installation of power lines. Earlier, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno shared the outcomes of ITIF 2024, emphasizing Indonesia’s role as the first country to host two major conferences almost simultaneously: the UN Tourism Conference on Women Empowerment in Bali and ITIF in Jakarta. Additionally, the UN Tourism offered Indonesia the opportunity to host the 2025 Asia Pacific UN Tourism joint commission meeting, which has been accepted. There was also a meeting with Indian representatives exploring digital economic cooperation in the tourism and creative economy sectors.
