Ambon Customs has facilitated the export of fresh tuna owned by PT Peduli Laut Maluku to Japan and the United States. These exports occurred on Friday, 23 August 2024, and Tuesday, 27 August 2024, through Pattimura Airport, Ambon, before being flown via Soekarno-Hatta Airport. M. Farid Irfan Mahfudz, Head of Ambon Customs, highlighted that fishery products from Ambon are increasingly popular in international markets. As a trade facilitator and industrial assistance provider, Ambon Customs is committed to supporting local fisheries businesses through optimal services, assistance, and export facilities.
In this export, a total of 66 boxes, or 5,640 kg of fresh whole tuna and 1,139.5 kg of fresh H&G tuna, with a total export value of IDR 875 million, were shipped to Japan and the United States. The export of fishery and agricultural commodities, including forestry products, continues to dominate exports from Maluku Province. Particularly, fishery products such as shrimp, tuna, grouper, and crab are key to penetrating international markets. This export is expected to improve the welfare and economy of Maluku.
