Indonesia and Egypt Share Experiences on Boosting Economy through Digitalization

Minister of Communication and Informatics, Budi Arie Setiadi, announced his intention to share Indonesia's experience in boosting the domestic economy through digitalization with Egyptian Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Amr Talaat. During the Indonesia-Africa Forum (IAF) and the High-Level Forum on Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships (HLF MSP) in Badung, Bali, Budi Arie emphasized that Indonesia, with its vast experience as a large country, can offer valuable insights on how digitalization has propelled economic growth and national progress. In addition to discussing the economic impact of digitalization, he mentioned plans to address Indonesia's experience in expanding internet access. Highlighting the importance of this discussion with African nations, Budi Arie pointed out that 2.3 billion people worldwide still lack internet access, primarily in poorer and developing regions, especially in South Asia and Africa. Egypt, leading among African delegations headed by their respective Ministries of Communication and Information Technology, was the first to request a bilateral meeting with the Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo), focusing on digitalization and communication processes in both countries. No other African nations have yet requested bilateral meetings with Kominfo.

The HLF MSP 2024, themed "Strengthening Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships: Towards a Transformative Change," features key sessions such as the Joint Leaders Session Indonesia-Africa (IAF) and the High-Level Plenary Session on the second day. The forum will also conduct 12 parallel events and 17 side events running until September 3, 2024, in Bali. These sessions will cover various topics relevant to sustainable development, including strategies for enhancing cross-sector and cross-country cooperation to tackle global challenges. HLF MSP 2024 aims to serve as an effective platform for promoting policy dialogue and reinforcing global commitments to sustainable development. With the participation of stakeholders from around the world, Indonesia hopes to play a significant role in driving more inclusive and sustainable transformational change at the global level.
