Indonesia continues to solidify its position as a leading producer of bird's nests, a luxury commodity highly prized for its health benefits, including enhanced immunity, organ function improvement, and anti-aging properties. These nests are particularly valued across Asia, with Indonesia contributing nearly 80% of global demand. The production process in Indonesia involves cultivating bird's nests in specially designed buildings that attract the birds. According to Trade Minister Muhammad Luthfi in 2021, Indonesia's bird's nest export value has shown a consistent upward trend. In 2020, Indonesia's bird's nest exports reached USD 540.4 million, marking a 48.5% increase from 2019. By 2023, the export volume had surged to 1,335 tons, generating USD 633.25 million, equivalent to IDR 9.81 trillion (USD 1 = IDR 15,945). With the current exchange rate, 1 kg of Indonesian bird's nest is valued at IDR 7.35 million, showcasing the continued global demand and robust pricing of this premium product.
