PT Biomasa Jaya Abadi (PT BJA), a leading integrated wood pellet producer in Gorontalo Province, has been recognized as the largest contributor to export revenue in the region by the Northern Sulawesi Customs Office. PT BJA's contributions account for more than 55% of Gorontalo's total export revenue. The award was presented by Erwin Situmorang, Head of the Northern Sulawesi Customs Office, and received by Rudi Hantono, President Director of PT BJA, during a ceremony held at the State Finance Building in Manado on Tuesday, 27 August. The event, organized by the Northern Sulawesi Customs Office, also honored 22 companies, 20 government ministries or agencies, 10 associations and media outlets, and 11 law enforcement officials operating across North Sulawesi, Gorontalo, and Central Sulawesi.
Rudi Hantono expressed his gratitude for the recognition, stating that it reflects PT BJA's positive impact on the nation and local communities. Since its operations began in Popayato District, Pohuwato Regency, Gorontalo Province, PT BJA has been exporting wood pellets to Japan and South Korea. From 2022 to 14 August 2024, the company conducted 21 wood pellet export shipments, totaling 230,000 tons. The exports were conducted in compliance with relevant regulations, in collaboration with Customs and other authorities. According to Ade Zirwan, Head of the Gorontalo Customs Office, PT BJA's export activities, which generated approximately IDR 200 billion in revenue by mid-August 2024, have significantly boosted Gorontalo's economy, contributing over half of the province's total export revenue. The Customs Office will continue to support businesses in the region to promote economic growth and national development.
