Thanks to the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture's Upland Project for the 2021-2024 period, the KUB Mitra Tani in Larangan Village, Pengadegan Subdistrict, Purbalingga Regency secured a 300-ton export contract to Japan. The shipments will be carried out gradually from 2024 until 2024. Mukodam, Assistant for Economic and Development Affairs of Purbalingga Regency, stated that Purbalingga is one of 14 regencies/cities in Indonesia selected by the Ministry of Agriculture as a recipient of the Upland Project. This program aims to comprehensively develop leading agricultural commodities from upstream to downstream with an export-oriented focus. In Purbalingga, the project is concentrated on two main commodities: goat livestock and pepper. The Kejobong and Pengadegan sub-districts were chosen as the primary locations for the project implementation.

From 2021 to 2024, the Upland Project in Purbalingga has achieved significant milestones, particularly in pepper development. In 2023, KUB Mitra Tani secured a 300-ton export contract to Japan, with the first batch of 15 tons already shipped, followed by 40 tons in the second phase, and an expected 100 tons in the next shipment. Mukodam emphasized that this success is the result of synergy between the Ministry of Agriculture, Purbalingga Regency, and farmers and breeders in Kejobong and Pengadegan. He expressed hope that the pepper exports would continue with maintained quality, bringing maximum benefits to the local communities. Besides the pepper export success, the Upland Project in Purbalingga also includes various physical activities supporting local agricultural development, such as the construction of farm roads, bore wells, Biogas Organic Fertilizer Processing Units (UPPO), and goat pens.
