Bank Indonesia (BI) has facilitated the promotion of three strategic projects at the "Indonesia Business Forum" in Washington, DC, United States. These projects are part of seven investment opportunities highlighted by Indonesia during the forum. The three key projects include the Umbul Telomoyo Geothermal Power Plant, a copper processing industry in East Java to support downstream development, and the Aceh Industrial Zone (KIA) in Ladong. KIA is set to become a hub for halal industrial and downstream activities, focusing on food, beverages, and other products. BI Deputy Governor Filianingsih Hendarta explained that these projects were selected in collaboration with the Indonesia Investment Promotion Center (IIPC) in New York, considering the interest of US investors in these sectors. Filianingsih highlighted five key reasons for US investors to consider investing in Indonesia, including the country’s strong economic growth, positive outlook, stable macroeconomic fundamentals, and the government’s commitment to structural reforms that create a conducive investment climate.
Additionally, Indonesia is accelerating economic and financial digitalization and promoting inclusive and sustainable economic development. The "Indonesia Business Forum" also featured trade promotions under the theme "Wow Indonesia Festival," which included a sustainable fashion show by Indonesian designers, showcasing top products such as traditional textiles, ready-to-wear clothing, crafts, and snacks from eight SMEs. The event aims to strengthen bilateral investment and trade relations between Indonesia and the US, aligning with the shared goal of fostering sustainable and inclusive economic growth for both nations.
