The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, reported that investment realization in Labuan Bajo reached nearly IDR 570 billion in the first quarter of 2024. He anticipates further increases in investment, bolstered by the development of supportive infrastructure in the region. Since 2020, Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), has been designated a Super Priority Tourism Destination, attracting significant investments primarily for infrastructure and tourism development. In 2023, investment realization in Labuan Bajo amounted to IDR 5.2 trillion, making tourism a major contributor among the 15 sectors of investment in NTT.
The introduction of an international flight route from Kuala Lumpur to Labuan Bajo by Air Asia, starting September 3, 2024, is expected to enhance connectivity, with additional routes from Australia and Singapore anticipated. This growth underscores NTT's advancing economic development, contributing to national and regional revenues and job creation. The upcoming event, themed “From Culture to Capital: Investing in the Future for Better NTT,” aims to explore various investment potentials, challenges, and issues through cultural showcases. It will serve as a platform for networking and collaboration among stakeholders, including government officials, industry players, investors, and the NTT diaspora, enhancing investor confidence in NTT's investment climate and opportunities.
