The Chairman of the Indonesian Furniture and Craft Industry Association (HIMKI), Abdul Sobur, forecasts that the export market for Indonesia's furniture industry will grow by 5-8% this year, with the domestic market expected to grow by 4-6%. Speaking in Surabaya, East Java, he highlighted that this growth will be supported by government initiatives, including a machinery and equipment restructuring program for the wood processing industry. This program is anticipated to enhance the industry's competitiveness and support the development of upstream industries. The Chairman of the Indonesian Sawmill and Woodworking Association (ISWA), M. Wiradadi Soeprayogo, noted that the surge in demand for furniture is evident both domestically and internationally. He pointed out that Indonesia's strategic location and improving production capabilities position the country as a key export hub. The Indonesian furniture industry holds significant growth potential, which must be continuously supported.
One such support effort is the upcoming Innovation Drive to Synergize Collaboration Across Indonesia’s Furniture Industry, featuring the International Furniture Manufacturing Components Exhibition (IFMAC) and the Woodworking Machinery Exhibition (WOODMAC). This event, organized in partnership with PT Wahana Kemalaniaga Makmur (WAKENI), is scheduled to take place from 25 to 28 September 2024 at the Jakarta International Expo Kemayoran. The exhibition aims to foster innovation and growth in Indonesia's furniture and woodworking sectors by showcasing cutting-edge technology and nurturing valuable industry relationships. IFMAC & WOODMAC 2024 is expected to attract 300 participants from 20 countries, including prominent manufacturers, distributors, suppliers, and agents within the furniture manufacturing and woodworking machinery sectors.
