The bilateral and economic relationship between Indonesia and China is being strengthened through two major exhibitions organized by the China Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with Peraga Expo. These events, the Indonesia International Machinery, Electricity, and New Energy Industry Exhibition (IIME) 2024 and the Indonesia International Paper Chain and Clean Water Industry Exhibition 2024, are being held from 21 to 23 August 2024 at JIEXpo Kemayoran, Jakarta. These exhibitions showcase the latest innovations in industrial machinery, electronics, and energy technology from China, providing a platform for hundreds of Chinese manufacturers to explore market opportunities in Indonesia. The products on display range from generators, electrical transmission and distribution equipment, solar power modules, electric vehicle charging stations, and energy storage solutions, among others.
Liana Bratasida, Chairperson of the Indonesian Pulp and Paper Association, emphasized the importance of these exhibitions in bridging the gap between Indonesian businesses and Chinese manufacturers. She noted that many Indonesian entrepreneurs have faced challenges in connecting with Chinese suppliers due to distance, time, and cost. These exhibitions offer a solution by bringing top-tier Chinese producers, who have undergone rigorous selection processes, directly to the Indonesian market. The event also highlights the rapid growth in essential products like automobiles and electrical equipment from China. In the first half of 2024, the value-added growth in China’s automotive industry rose by 9.8% year-on-year, while the production of 122 types of mechanical products saw a significant 61.5% increase. Additionally, the production and sales of new energy vehicles (NEVs) in China surged by 30.1% and 32% respectively, and industrial robot output increased by 9.6%, marking a new momentum in China's machinery industry. These developments underscore the growing collaboration between China and Indonesia, particularly in advancing industrial and technological sectors.
