DIY MSMEs Supported to Export Products

Governor of Yogyakarta Special Region, Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X, has requested assistance from the customs authorities to support local SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises) in the region. The expected support includes facilitating the export of products produced by these SMEs. This was conveyed by Akhmad Rofiq, Head of the Central Java and DIY Directorate General of Customs and Excise, on Monday (August 19). After meeting with Sri Sultan at Gedhong Wilis, Kepatihan Complex, Yogyakarta, Rofiq mentioned that the Directorate General of Customs and Excise has a program called the Export Purpose Import Facility (KITE) to support import-export activities. “KITE IKM and KITE Normal are the facilities we have to facilitate export-import activities. KITE IKM is specifically designed for businesses with lower export values. The aim is for DIY SMEs to grow and develop effectively,” Rofiq said. KITE IKM provides customs duty, VAT, and luxury tax exemptions for small and medium-sized industries involved in processing, assembling, or installing raw materials for export purposes, including packaging materials and machinery required for processing goods.

Currently, there are 20 IKM facilities and five KITE Normal facilities in DIY. Rofiq also reported that the customs revenue target for DIY is approximately IDR 1 trillion for 2024, which they hope to achieve. In addition to export-import issues, Rofiq discussed the management of Kulon Progo Airport (YIA) during the meeting. He stated that Customs and Excise will provide optimal services at YIA to support the DIY local government in delivering excellent service. YIA is currently the only international airport in Central Java and DIY, as Ahmad Yani Airport in Semarang and Adi Sumarmo Airport in Solo are no longer classified as international airports for now.
