Indonesia's automotive industry has shown impressive export performance throughout 2024. Recent data reveals a significant increase in the export of Indonesian-made cars, with Toyota dominating the export market. As of July 2024, the total export of cars reached 258,766 units, with Toyota contributing 94,167 units, or about 36.4% of the total exports, solidifying its position as the undisputed market leader. According to data from Gaikindo, this export surge includes not only Completely Built Up (CBU) vehicles but also Completely Knocked Down (CKD) units and automotive components. For CKD, exports reached 26,063 sets, while component exports totaled 95,281,493 units, indicating strong international demand. Toyota also led in component shipments, with 87,351,041 units exported from January to July 2024.
Daihatsu and Mitsubishi Motors followed Toyota as key players in Indonesia's automotive export market. Daihatsu exported 62,825 units, accounting for 24.3% of total CBU exports, while Mitsubishi Motors exported 43,662 units, contributing 16.9% to the total CBU exports. The strong performance of these three brands highlights the competitiveness of Indonesia's automotive industry in the global market. This continued export growth underscores the robust position of Indonesian automotive manufacturers and their ability to meet international demand effectively.
